The 10th Annual Latin@ Culture Show wants YOUR stories. We are currently asking people to submit home videos of fiestas, parandas or just good old Latino family fun.

Much of our histories have been passed down through song, story-telling and HOME VIDEOS!!!

Latin Heat Comes to Grand Rapids!

A new band has exploded onto the jazz scene! Grupo Ayé will perform their super-hot Salsa & Latin Jazz on April 16 as part of the popular Latino Culture Show at University of Michigan. You'll want to bring your dancing shoes!

Grupo Ayé is the brainchild of Robert Mulligan, who spent three years seeking the just-right combination of musicians to produce the sound that is Ayé.

Yes, the band is new, but it's ten members are all seasoned performers. Their combined jazz and latin music experience is enormous and includes performances with such noted artists as Pat Metheny, Tito Puente, Wynton Marsalis, Celia Cruz, Aretha Franklin, Harry Chapin, Jr., Englebert Humperdink and Paquito Rivera.

[Ayé’s musicians] Keaton Akins, trumpet; Mike Sailors, Trumpet: Oscar Gonzalez, lead vocalist; Matt Heredia, bass; Tom Lockwood, sax and flute; Rob Mulligan, congas and vocals; Carl Poposky, trombone; James Rodriguez, timbales: Carlos Cruz, Bongo and vocals; Steve Talaga, piano.

FILM SCREENING 2.17.10

A group of legendary Cuban musicians, some as old as their nineties, were brought together by Ry Cooder to record a CD. In this film, we see and hear some of the songs being recorded in Havana. There is also footage from concerts in Amsterdam and New York City's Carnegie Hall. In addition, many of the individual musicians talk about their lives in Cuba and about how they got started in music.
